A late-clock strategy where the offensive team times its possession so that:
- they take a quick shot, and
- regain possession with enough time to get one more shot before the period ends
How It Works #
Example (with a 24-second shot clock):
- Game clock: ~40–45 seconds left
- Team takes a shot around: 30–32 seconds
- Opponent uses time → shoots
- You get the ball back with ~5–8 seconds left
You get the last shot
Why It Matters #
- Creates an extra possession
- Maximizes scoring opportunities
- Common in high-level basketball (NBA, college, FIBA)
“Get a good shot early enough to get the ball back for the last shot.”
