PLAYER COMPARISON: Jimmy Butler
STRENGTHS: Griffin displays a great feel for the game. He already has the physique and game tailor made for the pros. He shoots the ball really well. He does just about everything well on the basketball court. He’s a versatile guard/wing player that can adapt and play well offensively and defensively anywhere from the 1-3 positions. He’s tough, plays a physical brand of basketball. He also has a handle on the basketball to play with equal ability finesse. He can get to his spots on the floor and rise up over defenders. He can also play with his back to the basket and make fadeaways. He’s equally as good in catch and shoot scenarios as he is putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot. He has strong, powerful quick twitch type leg muscles that allow for him to blast by defenders on closeouts and create immense separation on step backs to get his shot off. He’s a stout defensive player with his ability to slide his feet laterally. He can guard multiple positions with his athleticism, speed and power.
CONCERNS: The knee injury to someone that utilizes as much forceful athleticism as Griffin is something to monitor going forward.
